BEYOND THE CUBICLES

Ever thought about what life is beyond the cubicle where you spend more than half of your day, or rather I should say half your life only to become someone. We fight for getting a promotion, fight to put a junior colleague down and ensure that the person never tries to come up or move ahead of us. We fight for making an impression to our Boss, we fight to put in our best image forward to the clients and visitors. Is there more to this or were we just taught to fight and put the other person down? Or were we taught to play dirty politics in office to an extent that the other person cannot breathe and decides to leave.

What are we made of; is what I wonder sometimes? What I was taught back in school and in days that were cool, is that we are all children of the same god and that we must all live in peace and harmony and there was nothing like money. So I wonder today; were those lessons taught to me to be in a different place? Or is it that the world moved ahead and I lost pace.

Ever stopped back and thought about what are you born for or what is the purpose of your life? Is it only a vending machine which gives money or is it something still unknown to me? I am sure this happens to each one of us at some stage in our life, where the very purpose of your existence is what you question. The answer to this is still unknown for I feel nothing in this world is what I own.

Gone are the days of innocent games where we played hide and seek and running race, for now I even see the children playing video games. The question still remains unanswered, is it the new human race or yet again is it only me who has lost pace.

I remember listening to the stories told by my grandmother and going off to sleep, and feel unfortunate for the young children today; for they have parents who are only vending machines, machines that are working to keep pace in this techno savvy becoming world. A world which is giving into the hands of the growing technology and making man just a toy or a dull boy.

Is this what we are born to do, get education from the best high school and grab a package that has broken all rules? Facebook, Google, Infosys are the names that I hear everywhere and humanity is lost in the big glass buildings of these names.

And hence I question this once again, what is life beyond the office cubicles

RULING OVER FOOD

Namaste Dear Friend!

Well, you might be wondering what’s making me a regular blogger off late, let me be honest to you all, Well I have been quite Jobless these days, not that I have been kicked off my job, just that I have started utilizing time effectively and in a manner which gives me more time to myself and my interests.
So, as I had promised to all you food lovers there and also the non-food lovers I am back with a bang with my must visit list of food joints. This blog is actually a continuation of my previous post which read my first Love…yes by first love I mean my love for food.

Food I believe is a true friend to me, and guess for all of us in some manner or the other. Give a flash back to your thoughts and think of a time when food has not been your true friend in times when you were low and in times when there was happiness overflow. And hence to conclude I say…food my dear food you have been the bestie which has always been tasty (ok, I tried my best to rhyme this one…:-p)
Well I am not going to get you guys to say Oh crab, or even think of switching to another tab… ….
Here it is my list of food must haves!

1. Potato Hash Brown Burger@ Dunkin Donuts. Alright so I know many of you there hate me for posting this one, considering the controversies tagged with any food outlet which comes from overseas. But guys food, please don’t involve food with your political mind for once…I know we are called the dumping ground by the west for all that is a waste there , is a taste here. But in my defense I will only say; go grab one first and add some fruit punch to overcome the thirst.

2. Elco Chaat is something that I avoid giving a miss, so I will not say further because the food speaks for itself.

3. The third one on my must have list is Frankie @ Quality at linking road. So I recommend whenever you are out on the streets of Bandra picking up stuff and all the junk, don’t forget to stuff this one. I personally like the simple one and the best one rather “ Veg Cheese Frankie”.

      4. This one is for all you people who enjoy having a royal meal and this one truly is royal in every sense; the Thali at Rajdhani @ Crawford Market. One needs to skip breakfast and enjoy an early lunch in a lavish and king style way. I do feel guilty sometimes in indulging myself to such high in calorie meal yet I take it as no big deal.

       5. Yet another one that brings the feeling yumm to my taste buds is the Cheese Penne Pasta at Bombay Blues. The cheese gets your mouth in all Grease.

      6. My recent addiction includes the fully malai marke loaded Lassi at Punjab sind. Now this one, you should find in all areas of town, their outlets are there all across the city. I suggest drop by and enjoy a Lassi and give a miss to your after food sweets.

       7. How can I forget to mention this one, me and my bestie have never missed out on this each time we are at Pizza Hut. Although I have a complaint, Pizza hut outlets around the city are very few, but if you are lucky to witness one. I recommend you to try the Cheese Tortilla with Jalapeno Dip. It’s great for starters.

      8. This one is for times when your system needs rest and is put to test. Well it is for times when you don’t want to load your stomach with heavy meals and paneer grills. You can enjoy a nice glass of mint leaf juice with honey @ Fellas in Khar and cool down your machine.

       9. The Boston Cupcakery, has this yumm boston cream pie…I don’t need to give you more details on this one, I believe the name says it all.... Well I still have so many places to share with all of you…but I don’t want to make this blog a promotional one, for all eatery joints. (I am not being paid to promote them nor am I given complementary meal L)
1
       10. To complete my list let me add a few more joints, Persian Darbar is a good one to enjoy the late night dinner; the birdsong cafĂ© is great for Sunday morning brunch; Barbeque Nation now called Bombay Barbeque is awesome to catch with old buddies over the prawn and veggie grills.

So that’s all guys, on my places to visit for food! Go and spend your weekend to any one of these places and spare some time to comment on what you liked the most. Thank you to all for reading this post, do give your suggestions and views.

HELLO DECEMBER :-D

And finally I am able to feel the winter breeze, the breeze that gets you all romantic and in a mushy mood. That’s what it is for most of us I believe. Well it’s a little different for me, I love winters and I enjoy the weekends during winters the most, as I get all the time to sleep and eat, which is my favorite past time. Trust me food makes me happy, it truly does. As you all have already read my previous posts and by now figured out that I am a big foodie, and how I can have a never ending list of outlets to visit. This reminds me  I haven’t  been able to share with you guys some new joints that are a must visit in my list, well I promise you will hear that soon from me in my next blog post.

So guys, coming back to the favorite season of the year for most of us and rather the much awaited one, yes it’s the winter. A season that brings in joy and happiness, a season that brings in a slight bit of sadness yet the other time around brings in hope.  The winter season brings in a feeling that gets you sinking because like all humans we too are so stuck up with what they say “ The Usual way” and accept no change in our routine. Sometimes I wonder why are we so anti changing elements, why is no change welcomed easily by us humans. Well the only answer to this I get each time is that we humans are really emotional fools, who believe that all that we possess now, will remain with us lifelong for little do we know “Our Going is certain”.

So the season brings in sadness only till the extent that we want to hold on to time, sometimes for the good, sometimes for the bad. We wonder most of the times, while at work or while on casual tea break that how did the month end so soon, my birthday is just few months away and while few discuss, I am still on the same pay. That’s what I mean when I say that we humans are stuck up sometimes, and want to hold on to what we certainly can never control “TIME”.

Well, this was rather one side of the coin as they say, the other side of this coin brings in lots of happiness and feeling of joy, the feeling of celebration and bringing in the new year with all resolution. The time to treat yourself with Christmas candies and all the secret santa goodies :-P this is what I look forward for the most.

So all you boring workaholics there; gear up to the season of joy and get away with that technical toy, which has made you a dull boy. Let’s all welcome this last month of the year with excitement and feeling of togetherness. Go be a secret santa and bring smile on a child’s face. Do it different this time, and make sure you live this last month for others.
